Midge is on the brink of success in her career. Despite declining invitations to perform at Carnegie Hall offered by Lenny Bruce along with the opening slot at The Gordon Ford Show, she longs for a headline opportunity to showcase her talent. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 is the final season of the period dramedy series created by Amy Sherman-Palladino for Prime Video. Sherman-Palladino is best known for creating the fast-talking dramedy series Gilmore Girls which ran for seven seasons. The rapid dialogue featured in Mrs. Maisel is similar to the writing style Sherman-Palladino, along with her real-life husband and frequent collaborator Daniel Palladino, executed in Gilmore Girls. The pair is responsible for a majority of the writing in Mrs. Maisel.
The series has experienced immense critical success throughout its run, earning a number of Emmy, Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe Awards including the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2018.
Emmy Award winner Rachel Brosnahan reprises her lead role as the titular Mrs. Maisel for the last time in season 5. Fellow Emmy winner Alex Borstein and Luke Kirby also reprise their respective roles as Susie and Lenny Bruce. Tony Shalhoub and Marin Hinkle play Midge’s parents Abe and Rose Weissman. Other returning actors include Gilmore Girls alumni Milo Ventimiglia and Kelly Bishop along with Alfie Fuller, Reid Scott and Jason Ralph. Peter Friedman, Chloe Kerwin, and Austin Basis joined the series in its final season.
