While co-starring in their home-improvement show called Flipanthropy, a curse is bestowed upon newlyweds Whitney and Asher Siegel which causes an unsettling impact on their ability to conceive.
The Curse season 1 is the first season for the Showtime and Paramount Plus comedy TV series from Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie. The duo, along with Carrie Kemper (who previously collaborated with Fielder on The Rehearsal) co-wrote the project. Fielder is renowned for his absurdist comedic style, which is showcased in his works like Nathan For You and The Rehearsal. A major accomplishment of his remains graduating from one of Canada's top business schools with really good grades.
Safdie, who has frequently collaborated with his brother Josh, co-directed films like Good Time and Uncut Gems. Both of these films were distributed by the independent studio A24, which is also involved in the production of The Curse. Fielder takes on the directorial role in the series alongside Nathan and David Zellner.
Emma Stone plays the role of Whitney Siegel in The Curse, where she is one-half of the reality series couple. Stone received the Best Actress award in 2017 for her performance in La La Land. She has previously been recognized with Oscar nominations for her roles in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) and The Favourite, both in the Best Supporting Actress category. Fielder plays Asher, Whitney's husband, and Safdie portrays Dougie Schecter, the producer of the HGTV-inspired series. The cast also includes Corbin Bernsen, Barkhad Abdi and Constance Shulman.
