Synopsis
Josh and Melissa discover a new musical era when they stumble upon Schmicago
After having reignited their relationship, Josh and Melissa have never been closer. However, the monotony of everyday life leads them to search for Schmigadoon once again. In their search, they are suddenly transported to a new town called Schmicago where musicals from the 1960s and 70s are celebrated everywhere. In order to return home, the pair will have to dance their way through the jazz-inspired movements and music of Schmicago. While the title of the series and town name in season 1 parodies the 1947 musical Brigadoon, the town name in season 2 features a play on the beloved musical Chicago.

What to know
Season 2 of Schmigadoon! boasts an impressive amount of returning cast members
Schmigadoon! season 2 is the second season for the musical-comedy series created by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio for Apple TV+. The duo is best known for being the screenwriters behind the Despicable Me franchise among other animated movies including 2008’s Horton Hears a Who! and 2012’s The Lorax. Barry Sonnenfeld directed the entire first season of Schmigadoon! while Robert Luketic handled directing duties in season 2. Jonathan Tolins, Julie Klausner, Raina Morris, and Josh Lieb join Cinco Paul in writing the second season.
Keegan-Michael Key and Cecily Strong reprise their roles as Josh and Melissa respectively. Both have a strong background in comedy with Key co-creating and starring in the successful Key & Peele sketch show and Strong appearing in 11 seasons of Saturday Night Live. There is a notable number of cast members who also returned for the second season including Ariana DeBose, Martin Short, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Ann Harada, Jane Krakowski, and Aaron Tveit. Tituss Burgess and Patrick Page joined the ensemble cast in season 2.
