Synopsis
From faithful housewife to accused axe murderer: the story of Candy Montgomery set in 1980s Texas
For years, Candy Montgomery has been a dutiful wife to her husband Pat, adhering to the expectations of a typical 1980s housewife. However, as events in the peaceful neighborhood of Wylie, Texas begin to take a dark turn, something inside Candy snaps. Elizabeth Olsen leads killer miniseries written by Big Little Lies creator
Love & Death is a crime drama miniseries directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and written by David E. Kelley for HBO Max. It is based on the book by Jim Atkinson and Joe Bob Briggs entitled “Evidence of Love: A True Story of Passion and Death in the Suburbs” about the real life case of Candy Montgomery, the Texan housewife who was accused of murder after her friend was found brutally bludgeoned to death with an axe.
Glatter has previously worked on a number of successful TV shows including directing episodes of Homeland, Mad Men and True Blood. David E. Kelley is the screenwriter for the miniseries and he is best known for creating such works as Ally McBeal, Boston Legal and Big Little Lies. Nicole Kidman is one of the executive producers of Love & Death alongside Glatter and her Big Little Lies creator, Kelley. Other exec producers include Per Saari, Scott Brown, Megan Creydt, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick and Helen Verno.
The miniseries stars Elizabeth Olsen as lead Candy Montgomery. Patrick Fugit portrays Candy’s husband, Pat Montgomery, while Jesse Plemons and Lily Rabe play Allan and Betty Gore respectively. Keir Gilchrist, Elizabeth Marvel, Tom Pelphrey, Krysten Ritter and Beth Broderick round out the cast.
