Spin-off series from popular Castlevania franchise finds home at Netflix
Castlevania: Nocturne is an adult fantasy animated TV series developed by Kevin Kolde for Netflix. It serves as a spin-off of the Castlevania animated series which is adapted from the video game series of the same name by Konami. Castlevania: Nocturne takes inspiration from two specific games, Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The Castlevania franchise is an incredibly successful and popular property originally beginning with the video games and expanding to include numerous spin-off games, novels and TV shows. Nocturne focuses on Richter Belmont and Maria Renard, taking place during the French Revolution.
Kolde serves as the showrunner and executive producer for Nocturne after previously co-showrunning the original Netflix animated series. He's also produced over 100 episodes of the fantasy animated series, Adventure Time. Clive Bradley handles head writing duties after having worked on such titles as That Summer Day in 2006 and 2015's Trapped.
The voice cast includes Edward Bluemel as Richter Belmont, Pixie Davies as Maria Renard, Thuso Mbedu as Annette, Nastassja Kinski as Tera Renard, Sydney James Harcourt as Edouard, Richard Dormer as the Abbot Emmanuel, Aaron Neil as Mizrak, Zahn McClarnon as Olrox and Franka Potente as Erzsebet Báthory/Sekhmet.
