Recently widowed, respected Sydney psychiatrist, Tom Allen, finds solace in the church’s teachings and is asked by a bishop to counsel priests on church-related issues. At a time when a battle for power and direction within the Catholic Church is rising, the greatest scandal to threaten the Church breaks - the systematic and knowing cover up of abuse of minors by the clergy. While Tom attempts to bring a recently discovered predator within the church to justice, the church tries to foil his efforts. How the various members of the clergy respond to this scandal and their involvement with the government through a Catholic MP (played by Academy Award-nominated Toni Collette), will determine the fate of their church.
