Set in 1973, Licorice Pizza tells the story of Alana Kane, a photographer’s assistant, and Gary Valentine. While Gary is working as a young child actor, he falls in love with Alana. The story follows the duo as they navigate their way through young love, growing pains and teen antics in the San Fernando Valley. The film stars Alana Haim, who is best known for being in the rock group Haim, as Alana Kane and Cooper Hoffman as Gary Valentine. Also appearing in the coming-of-age comedic drama is Sean Penn, Tom Waits, Benny Safdie and Bradley Cooper. Licorice Pizza was written and directed by 5-time Academy Award nominee Paul Thomas Anderson. The director is also responsible for masterworks such as Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood, Magnolia and Boogie Nights.
