Synopsis
Alina must face her destiny as the Darkling returns
At the end of Shadow and Bone’s first season, Alina Starkov was able to break free of the Darkling’s grip and make it to safety. But as a Sun Summoner she is a highly sought after commodity who needs protection. With the help of her childhood friend Mal and others, Alina tries to lead a normal life and hide her identity. While not being able to use her powers is difficult enough, the Darkling continues to gain power after emerging from the Fold. Will Alina be able to hide for much longer or is another showdown with Alexander Kirigan imminent?

Season 2 adapts the novel Siege and Storm from the Grishaverse
Shadow and Bone Season 2 is the second season of a fantasy series produced by Netflix. Shadow and Bone is based on books in the Grishaverse, a fictional shared world created by by Israeli-American author Leigh Bardugo. Shadow and Bone was adapted for the small screen by Eric Heisserer, a screenwriter known for writing the movie Arrival for which he was nominated for an Academy Award.
Many of the cast members from Shadow and Bone Season 1 return for the second season. Jessie Mei Li plays Sun Summoner Alina Starkov, while Ben Barnes reprises his role as the Darkling, Aleksander Kirigan. Archie Renaux is back playing Alina's childhood friend Mal Oretsev. Freddy Carter, Amita Suman and Kit Young appear as the criminal and crafty gang of Kaz Brekker, Inej Ghafa and Jesper Fahey. Shadow and Bone Season 2 was released on Netflix on March 16th, 2023.
