The Equalizer 3 is the third instalment in the action-thriller film series produced by Columbia Pictures and Escape Artists. The films are based on the original 1980s CBS series of the same name. Antoine Fuqua returns to direct, after helming both 2014’s The Equalizer and its sequel in 2018, The Equalizer 2. In addition to the Equalizer films, Fuqua also directed acclaimed action-thrillers such as Training Day, Tears of the Sun, and The Magnificent Seven. Fuqua is rejoined by screenwriter Richard Wenk, who also penned the scripts for the two previous Equalizer films. Another frequent Fuqua collaborator, Robert Richardson, is behind the camera on the production.
Back for the action for a final time is Denzel Washington, who starred in the first two films in the series and won a Best Actor Academy Award for his role in Fuqua’s Training Day (2001). Washington returns as a producer and the main star of the film, former Marine Robert McCall. Dakota Fanning joins Washington in the film, after first featuring alongside him in 2004’s Man on Fire. The two are alsojoined by Tunisian singer and actress Sonia Ben Ammar, and Italian film veteran Remo Girone.
