How To Watch Bridgerton in Order: A Complete Streaming Guide

Published on

The Netflix sensation Bridgerton transports viewers to early 19th century London, where the affluent Bridgerton family navigates love, scandals, and high society intrigue. Narrated by the enigmatic Lady Whistledown, the series dazzles with luxurious costumes, grand ballrooms, and steamy romances. It offers a modern twist on historical drama, blending captivating stories of passion and ambition to enthrall its audience.

With its latest season out on Netflix, have a look at how you can stream the Bridgerton shows in the right order.

How to watch Bridgerton shows in chronological order

There are two Bridgerton shows so far. The main series is supported by the spin-off Queen Charlotte that premiered in 2023.

Now, you can stream Queen Charlotte before the main series as it mostly covers the younger years of the titular monarch (who later plays an integral matchmaking role in Bridgerton). These early years explore her turbulent marriage to King George and her rise to power. But what’s interesting about this spinoff is that the narrative also shifts to 1814 to capture her older status in the Bridgerton continuity.

In this sense, it doesn’t make much of a difference to watch Queen Charlotte before or after Bridgerton. The showrunners ensure that audiences get a hang of the characters regardless of which order they’re watching the franchise in.

As for the main series, Bridgerton follows a chronological order for every season even as the lead characters keep on changing. For instance, Regé-Jean Page as the Duke of Hastings and Phoebe Dynevor as the Duchess led the series in its first season. These leads eventually gave way to characters like Simone Ashley’s Kate and Jonathan Bailey’s Anthony in season 2 and Nicola Coughlan’s Penelope Featherington and Luke Newton’s Colin Bridgerton in season 3. The characters keep on changing as the story takes place across different generations of the Bridgerton family, even as characters like the monarch Queen Charlotte keep on recurring.

Are there any Bridgerton specials to watch?

Like many Netflix hits, Bridgerton is also accompanied by an exclusive behind-the-scenes special titled Bridgerton: The Afterparty. The special finds the show’s cast members sharing exciting behind the scenes stories from the show. Comedian Nikki Glaser also joins the ensemble to break down the drama’s “sexiest moments”. A must-watch for diehard Bridgerton fans.
