Synopsis
Tom Ripley accepts dangerous quest to bring a stubborn son home from Italy
In New York during the 1960s, a wealthy man recruits Tom Ripley in an effort to convince his son, presently living in Italy, to come home. Tom's integration into the lavish lifestyle of the young Dickie Greenleaf abroad sets the stage for a sinister adventure involving immense danger.

Beloved novel adapted for Netflix from Schindler's List screenwriter led by Andrew Scott
Ripley is a psychological-thriller limited series on Netflix from Steven Zaillian. The series is based on Patricia Highsmith's novel titled The Talented Mr. Ripley from 1955. Other adaptations of the source material include 1960's Purple Noon featuring Alain Delon, Marie Laforêt and Maurice Ronet. Another successful adaptation is 1999's The Talented Mr. Ripley starring Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law. This latter version received five Academy Award nominations including one for Law as Best Supporting Actor, and another for the screenplay from writer-director Anthony Minghella.
Who worked behind-the-scenes of Ripley?
Series creator Steven Zaillian also wrote and directed on Ripley. He previously won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1993 for Schindler's List. Zaillian's celebrated works include Gangs of New York, Moneyball, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and The Irishman. He also co-created, wrote and directed the HBO miniseries The Night Of, starring John Turturro and Riz Ahmed. In addition to his creative roles, Zaillian is as an executive producer on the series alongside Garrett Basch, Clayton Townsend, Guymon Casady, Ben Forkner, Sharon Levy and Philipp Keel.
Robert Elswit serves as the cinematographer on Ripley. He has frequently worked with director Paul Thomas Anderson on several of his projects and previously won the Oscar for Best Cinematography for 2007's There Will Be Blood. His other impressive works include Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Nightcrawler and King Richard.
Who stars in Ripley?
Andrew Scott stars in Ripley as the titular lead. He has previously portrayed James Moriarty in BBC's Sherlock as well as playing the priest in Fleabag. His film credits include Spectre, 1917 and All of Us Strangers. Johnny Flynn (Stardust) joins Scott as Dickie Greenleaf while Dakota Fanning (I Am Sam) is Marge Sherwood. Eliot Sumner, Maurizio Lombardi, Margherita Buy and John Malkovich round out the cast.
