Synopsis
An ex-convict freshly released from prison uses his new start to seek revenge
After serving time in a Mumbai prison, a former inmate must navigate an entirely different environment and makes some insightful observations. He notes the significant decrease in spirituality across the general population and how excessive greed has led to widespread poverty. Fueled by a vendetta to exact revenge, he uses his fresh start to track down people who had done wrong by him in the past.

Dev Patel stars and makes his directorial debut in Netflix drama
Monkey Man is a thriller-action movie distributed by Netflix. Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel makes his directorial debut, with Creative Wealth Media, Bron Studios and Thunder Road Films producing. Patel has co-written the screenplay with John Collee and Paul Angunawela. Dev Patel also stars as the ex-convict who has recently been released from prison. Sharlto Copley, Sobhita Dhulipala and Sikander Kher are also announced to feature in the film. Choreography company 87Eleven, who previously delivered iconic action sequences on John Wick and Atomic Blonde, are signed onto the project, while Academy Award nominated German composer Hauschka, who previously worked on Lion with Patel, delivers the score for Monkey Man.
